The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on a wide variety of quality control functions as required and overseeing the daily materials testing, process, and final product inspections to ensure quality and contract compliance for the construction of precast bridge structure segments in precast yard setting. Job Duties include: • Maintain a Quality Assurance Program which will monitor and follow the guidelines set forth in the PCI Manual for Quality Control and assure the structural and cosmetic quality of all precast/pre-stressed products. • Provide proper documentation of the contents and quality of all precast/pre-stressed products. • Inspection and verification of proper fabrication and placement of internal reinforcement • Verification of proper stressing operations to ensure conformance with specification procedures. • Oversee performance of concrete tests for samples during production, and ensure that proper handling and storage procedures are followed. • Monitor all pre-pour and post-pour activities to assure the production of quality products. • Maintain training procedures and ability to improve the quality of precast/pre-stressed products. • Maintain and monitor a system for evaluating the quality performance of the plant. Alert management of any aspect of quality in the organization which may prove detrimental to the company. Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights. Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent required • 3 years of Precast Concrete or Construction QC/QA experience is required • PCI Level II or III Certification • Ability to obtain ACI and PTI Certifications • Strong problem solving and communication skills • Thorough knowledge of the operations involved in producing quality precast/pre-stressed concrete products. • Ability to maintain the procedures in the PCI Manual for Quality Control. • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of production and management • Strong mathematic skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and possess ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principals • Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment is required • Valid Driver’s License required • Effective written and oral communication skills is required • Ability to read and interpret roadway, structure, and bridge plans and specifications; maintain detailed records; perform required materials testing; • Ability to understand and implement contract specification requirements, ASTM Standards, State DOT specifications, and PCI Quality standards and product specifications. • 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training Physical Requirements: • The candidate will be exposed to outdoor changing weather conditions. (i.e., rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.) • Must be able to climb, bend, push wheelbarrows of concrete and lift up to 40 lbs. several times daily.
