Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Electrical/Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for a lead engineering position on various industrial and mining projects. The candidate should be an Electrical engineer with experience in both electrical as well as control systems for heavy industrial sectors with emphasis in the chemical processing and mining industries. Responsibilities include team management, design, equipment specification, preparation of RFQ packages, equipment vendor selection, coordination and communication with equipment vendors, site layout, field inspections, field measurements, and preparation of engineering construction documents. Candidate must be highly motivated, customer focused, project oriented and work well in a team environment. Candidate should also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel both domestic and internationally for short periods of time, and support domestic and international chemical and mining projects. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, client interaction and organizational skills, and proficiency MS Office applications are required. Position will be based in Jacobs Lakeland office located in Lakeland, Florida. Responsible for engineering design support of small to large heavy mining projects. Development of designs for a variety of mechanical equipment, facilities, components, and systems for industrial/mining purposes. Development of equipment and material bid specifications including bid evaluation and technical selection. Manage, plan and direct other design engineers, layout specialists, designers, and interface with other discipline engineers working on common projects. Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex mining and heavy industrial designs. Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients. Comprehensive understanding of electrical and controls engineering principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards with emphasis on practical application. Work under minimal supervision with work reviewed for adequacy on completion through a quality management system. Will provide some technical guidance to other engineers and act as mentor to less experienced design and engineering personnel. Manages simultaneous projects with competing priorities in various execution phases on a wide variety of industrial processes. Develop proposals and project scopes in collaboration with management, sales, project delivery, engineering and discipline representatives. Facilitates project meetings to develop and review project scopes, design criteria and discipline drawings. Accountable for meeting project cost and schedule requirements; evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Maintains budgets and schedules forecast with assistance from project controls. Works with site and corporate procurement to develop/implement a procurement strategy for each project. Qualifications +7 years of project experience required. PE License is desired. Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering. Fluency in English required, French or Spanish comprehension is beneficial. Ability to generate equipment and operating specifications for all equipment. Able to prepare electrical schematics for instruments, controls, electrical devices and pumps and motors. Operations experience in industrial power and control systems and trouble-shooting would be beneficial. Full understanding of electrical and controls specifications and construction drawings development and review. Experience with material takeoffs, equipment lists, P&IDs, and PFDs Experience and proficient with equipment layout design. Familiar and a functional user of 2D AutoCAD or MicroStation. Familiar with 3D modeling platforms (PDS, SP3D, AutoCAD 3D). Experience with mechanical integrity and applicable codes: API, ASME, MSS, ASTM and other generally accepted governing standards. MSHA/OSHA safety regulations knowledge is required. Experience in developing hour estimates and controlling project budgets. Experience with field/home office coordination and communications via a standard RFI system. Control panel design and wiring Bus technology experience for instrumentation such as Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus Ethernet IP, Devicenet, ASI or equal Must have basic knowledge of DCS and PLC systems. Technical knowledge of instrumentation selection and specification Instrumentation database project execution such as Intools or equal. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in the development of project documentation (including project scope of work, functional and technical requirements, instrumentation data sheets, construction specifications, control strategy). Experience in the design of control systems, networks, bus IO subsystems, control panels, wiring diagrams, and related control equipment for process automation. Possess basic knowledge and the application of applicable instrumentation-related codes, standards, and regulations including ISA, NEC, GAMP, API, ISO, and IEC. Capable of develop installation details such as conduit, tubing, and communications networks.
