The Project Field Safety Coordinator will be a member of the Arup-Jacobs Joint Venture reporting directly to Safety & Security Manager of the Joint Venture for 3rd Track Expansion Project. The Project Field Safety Coordinator’s role will be to ensure the On-Site Design Build Contractor are in compliance with all City, State, Federal to include the FRA, FTA and any other Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) governing construction related activities for the project. Prepare reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly Conduct field safety inspections Maintain accurate and detailed records of the job site Review and recommend approval of site specific safety plans Review and recommend approval for controlling contractor Submittals/SWP Maintain the monthly Construction Safety Dashboard Report Review and prepare responses to contractor Requests for Information (RFI’s) Assist and Review contractor’s safety qualifications based upon their EMR Conduct pre-site assessment visits to evaluate site hazards, prepare appropriate mitigation solutions, and assist the contractor in implementing corrective actions Attend progress meetings as required to include the controlling contractors weekly tool-box-talk Conduct quarterly weekly and daily as needed inspections/audits of work sites, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with all contract specifications with LIRR/MTACC/OCIP and AJJV Leadership This is not an all-encompassing list of deliverables and subject to change as conditions or work processes change Qualifications • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in Safety & Health is preferred • At least 5 years of construction related experience primarily focused on Rail Operations is required • Must possess or be working on completing Professional Certifications, CHST, ASP, CSP, CIH, IH • Demonstrated strong analytical and the ability to problem solving skills, with a high degree of integrity and strong work ethic. • Must be articulate in writing reports and or correspondence as it relates to the program • OSHA 30-Hour certification in Construction • OSHA 500 Train-the-Trainer in Construction • Working closely with LIRR/MTACC Safety/ MTACC OCIP Administrators or any other entity • Current First Aid/CPR/AED qualified • Working on or near moving stock • Computer literate in the latest computer programs • Be able to conduct auditing of job sites and producing daily reports • Work closely with contractors Safety Managers & Safety Supervisors pertaining to all field related safety issues • Be available to work nights/weekends and or holidays if need arises or work schedule changes • Must possess demonstrated and effective management skills including strong organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate documentation • Ability to perform trend analysis, root cause analysis, implement corrective actions and risk reduction analysis using a variety of techniques. • Ability to conduct safety review/comment on drawings (schematics, prints, as built, floor plans, construction, utility layouts) and specifications. • Ability to review/comment on project/site specific health and safety plans and design documents and specifications • Ability to read drawings and or schematics • Ability to stand for long durations with the ability to lift 25+ LBS, and work in all types of weather At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
