What you’ll be doing...
Verizon Smart Communities is building city focused solutions to change the way cities function. We are creating solutions to improve the safety, efficiency, connectivity and the lives of people. We are a relatively new (small) team focused on improving mobility in cities. We will be using the new emerging 5G networks to build solutions that communicate with vehicles and pedestrians over C-V2X.
5G networks will bring unprecedented wireless network speed, with low latency and high bandwidth. Edge computing in a network edge, private cloud environment further reduces latency by running applications closer to the inputs and closer to the recipients of the information. This is an opportunity to work on the forefront of this new emerging technology and help define and build some of the applications that will drive adoption.
You will be helping to write Dockerized microservices in a private cloud running Kubernetes. Initially we will work on pilots that are small and contained, but we will also look to designing for scale.
What we’re looking for...
You are a visionary and self-sufficient software engineer that can rapidly and robustly build out new services and applications, primarily using Go but possibly with other languages as well. Remote working options available for those applying out of the San Jose, CA area.
Even better if you have:
