Posting Summary

The Professional Advisor helps with all major faculty/staff advising and peer mentoring services, programs and activities in support of ENVS majors, minors, and students taking ENVS courses.
The Professional Advisor will provide guidance and resources to assist holistic student development and will build and maintain connections with students while working toward increased efficiency in advising practices and techniques. The Professional Advisor will contribute to and foster a program-wide culture of student empowerment, community-building and on- and off-campus partnerships. The professional will assess success of the program in providing engaging curriculum that reflects student interests and informs the development of courses and programmatic practices. As part of curricular and program assessment and learning, the Professional Advisor will engage with UVM-wide efforts on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). 
Position comes with an expectation that this person contributes to a positive and collegial work environment and maintains open and clear communications with direct supervisor at all times.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in a specialized or related field and one to three years’ related experience required. Experience working with university-level students is required. Current working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software applications. Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive community.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience working with programmatic assessment is desirable. 
Also desirable are familiarity with the UVM administrative systems, interest in environmental issues, and experience with Scholarship on Teaching and Learning and practices.

Payband Max (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary. Must be prorated for jobs less than 12 months or 1.0FTE (Salary/12 x # of months x FTE)) 63100.00
