Job Description

The Biologist or Ecologist/Regulatory Specialist will provide technical input, project coordination, and/or project management of planning and natural resource projects including but not limited to technical reports, state and federal environmental permit applications, sections in conservation plans, and technical studies and sections for State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents. Project coordination and management tasks will include developing project work plans and conducting and/or overseeing supporting technical analyses. Site visits and field work may also be required. The position may also include assisting with business development efforts to help expand ICF’s natural resources line of business within the United States. Current project workload is focused in Washington and Oregon, but could also include support for California, Idaho, Alaska, or other regional projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Biology, Ecology, or related field; MS or PhD preferred.  
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or related field with a focus on ESA, NEPA, SEPA, and environmental compliance; with at least 4 years of experience in a project management or management support role; education equivalents, including advanced degrees will be considered.
  • A history working with private, public sector clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with establishment and management of project scope, schedules and budgets, including, contracting invoicing, and client communications.
  • Ability to safely and effectively conduct field work under the supervision of and/or as part of a field team.
  • Strong organizational, communication, facilitation, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with Washington and Oregon environmental resources and associated regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and editing (writing samples will be requested).
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel)
