Job Description

We seek Environmental Biologists who will work in a team to prepare and review site-specific ecological risk assessments and conduct preparation and analysis of environmental samples. Typical laboratory assignments include general laboratory operations (e.g., culture maintenance, DI water check, equipment checks); maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory instrumentation; microbiological analysis of water samples; chlorophyll analysis; and PCR and other genomic analysis.  Duties also include preparing routine documentation and reports. The position requires strict adherence to standard operating procedures, health and safety policies and practices, and quality control requirements. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as member of a team of chemists and technicians. 

Candidate can work remote from any U.S. location.

Basic Qualifications (depending on specific position)

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience preparing ecological risk assessments
  • 1+ years of experience conducting microbiological analysis of water samples using a variety of standard methods, such as 9222B and 9223B
  • 1+ years of experience conducting PCR and other genomic analysis of environmental samples
  • Attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication and basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe Arobat)
  • The successful candidate must have or be able to obtain authorization for access to Federal facilities

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience using relevant EPA analytical methodologies
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player with flexibility to meet a variety of fluctuating and varied client requirements
  • Experience working at Federal facilities
