What you’ll be doing...

The GEMC Incident Management Analyst will report to the GEMC Sr. Manager and be responsible for global incident management oversight on a daily basis. The primary roles will include ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis) and performing key functions in response to incidents and GEMC activation such as; major storms, earthquakes, civil unrest, or any incident that may pose high risk to Verizon.

As an Incident Management Analyst, your primary daily role is to ensure effective monitoring, analyzing and disseminating situational information and intelligence regarding actual impacts or potential threats to Verizon operations and assets.

  • Maintain documented procedures such as the Global Incident Monitoring and Notification process.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in all tools, systems and software utilized by the ISAC, as well as all documented policies, processes and procedures.
  • Monitor ISAC operations to ensure optimum performance in all ISAC team responsibilities and tasks.
  • Review ISAC reports daily and provide feedback to improve accuracy and clarity.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of an ISAC training and certification program.
  • Support documented procedures such as the Event Assessment process, engaging and working with points of contact to review the significant event, conduct an event assessment, establish and coordinate any ongoing or future activities related to the event, and provide a post incident summary report.

Perform key functions within the operations of Verizon’s Emergency Operations Centers should an incident result in the activation of the GEMC;

  • Assist with the coordination of GEMC activations with duties such as; scheduling and assignment of GEMC participants, preparing status reports, setting up all tools and resources, and coordinating conference calls.
  • Assisting in the development and coordination of restoration and recovery strategies, supporting requests for resources, facilitating deployment and tracking of emergency resources, providing after-action reports and recommendations, and coordination with federal, state, local government, and other critical infrastructure industry representatives as appropriate.
  • Support the development and implementation of GEMC drills and exercises.
  • Maintain proficiency in all tools, systems and software utilized by the GEMC during an activation, as well as maintaining documented policies, processes and procedures.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associates degree or two or more years of work experience
  • Three of more years of relevant work experience.
  • Available to work non-business hours including weekends.
  • Available for on-call rotation.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree
  • Significant experience with mapping and/or data analysis tools (ESRI, Visual Command Center, Google Maps, KML/KMZ files etc).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with competency to present to an executive level.
  • Ability to productively perform in a high stress environment.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Emergency ManagementCertifications
  • Previous emergency management experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in threat monitoring center.
  • Interest in or courses completed in meteorology
  • Knowledgeable of Verizon’s network architecture and primary operations units.
  • Previous emergency management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of National Incident Management System and Incident Command System. Completion of FEMA ICS training courses.
  • Early adopter of new technology
  • Project management experience
  • Willingness to travel
