Description

 The Jacobs Environmental Manager (EM) is accountable for implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the environmental compliance, waste management, and chemical management programs for the Spent Fuel Handling Project. Supervises other environmental staff (Waste Management and Chemical Management Coordinators). Reports administratively to the Jacobs Project Manager and functionally to the Construction Manager for day-to-day project activities. The EM is responsible for ensuring requirements within the Jacobs environmental related plans and procedures are fully implemented and executed by Jacobs and subcontractor staff. The EM is responsible for ensuring the project is staffed with qualified and trained personnel and will be the primary interface with the client support organizations, including but not limited to the client Environmental Compliance, Waste Management, and training groups. When environmental notifications are required per the Jacobs Procedures or client governing documents, notifications will be made by the EM or delegated as documented within the environmental plans and procedures. The EM will also implement a self-assessment program where it pertains to environmental management as required in the client Environmental Management System. EPCM contract to construct new facility within the Idaho National Laboratory site. The project duration is expected to be five years.Work location is near the Naval Reactors Facility at Idaho National Lab which is about 50 miles west of Idaho Falls, ID   

Qualifications

 

  • The successful candidate will have environmental management and compliance experience through preparing environmental permits, monitoring compliance with permit requirements, and supervising other environmental staff. 
  • Must be a US citizen and have or be able to obtain a DOE security clearance
  • Ideal candidate will have Idaho National Laboratory experience.
  • Person already residing a commutable distance from Idaho National Laboratory near Idaho Falls, ID is highly desired
  • US citizens only – no dual citizenship and/or application for dual citizenship is permitted. 
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or 15 years of equivalent experience.
  • 15 years related experience; including 5 years in the nuclear industry is preferred

Essential Functions:

Work Environment: 

·       Office environment. (75%) 

·       May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities.

 

Physical Requirements: 

·       Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

·       Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods

  • Possess effective communication skills. 
  • Listens carefully and speaks professionally and clearly in all situations. 
  • Edits work for accuracy and clarity. 
  • Able to create, read, and interpret complex written information.

Equipment and Machines:

 

Standard office equipment - PC, telephone, fax, copier, related equipment (90%)

 

Attendance:

 

·       Regular attendance mandatory (100%)

·       Overtime/work outside normal schedule may be required (20%)

·       Travel may be required (<10%)

 

Other Essential Experience:


U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check.
