This is a Test Evaluation and Support Team contract position (TEST2) contract position at the NASA – White Sands Test Facility. This position may be assigned to Jacobs Technology or a teammate company.
Duties include the management and inventory control of bonded and controlled storage areas consisting of both independent and dependent demand inventories of NASA space flight hardware assets. Required to prepare job instructions based on customer requirements, develop work authorizing documents, inventory status reports, procurement requests, and may provide training, direction and oversight for supporting technicians and inventory custodians. Must be able to process logistics information, work with project management and support engineering to identify inventory requirements and logistics analysis. Must be able to review engineering and vendor specifications and schematics to gather procurement information of required products in support of component refurbishment and testing activities within the department. May be called upon to prepare and present informal and formal presentations to the customer and management. Identify work flows for hardware processing and schedule development. Must be able to demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills. Must be able to work independently under the direction of the sections Branch Manager, experienced engineers, and our NASA clients. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and build professional relationships with internal customers and department personnel. Perform other specific and limited technical and engineering tasks of a broader assignment, under the direction of experienced engineers. Candidate must have organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. BS degree from an ABET accredited engineering school. Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge in database development tools highly desirable.
UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Position requires computer operation to accomplish tasks. Must be able to sit for extended duration to perform some tasks. Typically required to lift and hold up to 20 pounds. This position includes standing, walking, and occasional climbing or crawling around test facilities. Some WSTF test systems are located outdoors and/or in hazardous test areas. Some work will require use of personal protective equipment, safety boots, hearing protection, eye protection and other associated protective equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position may require individual to travel to different areas on site. Work inside a controlled environment and outside is required. Work area will include storage/warehouse environments. Must be able to work in shop, laboratory, and test facility environment. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Use of personal computer and Microsoft Office software packages is required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is also required. May be required to use measurement equipment such as calipers, scales and tape measure. Use of a heat sealer for packaging hardware and lifting equipment such as a pallet jack or dolly will be required.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Support to second or third shift may be required in support of high priority testing. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternate Fridays off, is typically in use for each two-week pay cycle (9-80 schedule).
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be able to pass a physical examination (including drug testing) as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. If applicable to the specific job assignment, must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems.
