Job Description



Jacobs is seeking an expert level Access Database Specialist with API integration experience and Java front end experience. Immediate requirement is to streamline our current processes through the development of automated queries, ingest, and reporting on a classified system. Through automation, reduce manual functions and provide an easy to use interface to provide time savings to intelligence community analysts. 


Candidate must have experience in successfully, independently developing, deploying, and maintaining Access applications, preferably in support of a federal government agency and in a classified environment. Must have good analytic and problem-solving skills and ability to work with analysts and system owners to define user requirements. The ability to use more sophisticated systems/tools/software may be limited due to the operational environment.



Job duties may include:


•Collect functional and application data requirements from customer and intelligence analysts.


•Create reports, templates, and generate appropriate ad-hoc reporting as required.


•Developing data models and designing the database architecture


•Installing security features and granting access levels per approved user privileges


•Create and provide data processing and analysis solutions using Microsoft Access.


•System testing and bug identification and resolution


•Develop process documentation and financial management procedures using the new Access based tool.





 Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Hands-on development experience in Java / JEE and Spring MVC / Spring Boot

Significant understanding of Microservice patterns & concepts & its application in problem solving.

Understanding of cloud solutions and architectures on one or more cloud providers - Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing strategies

Advanced skills implementing API Service architectures using any of the market leading API Management tools such as Apigee and frameworks

Ability to work with Postgres / SQL Server databases. Experience with writing and debugging complex SQL queries.

Ability to decompose legacy applications into microservices.

Ability to document and troubleshoot problems and effectively communicate with business and technical team members at all levels

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Experience creating data ingests and report templates





Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.


Work Environment:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.


Equipment & Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.



Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday.  However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.


Other Essential Functions:

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
