Would you like to work on self-driving technology without having prior self-driving experience? Read on, this might still be an opportunity for you!
Here at Uber's Advanced Technologies Group (ATG), we are on a mission to bring safe, reliable self-driving transportation to everyone, everywhere. We are building technologies that will transform the way the world moves. Our teams in Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Boulder are dedicated to mapping, software and hardware development, vehicle safety, and operations for self-driving technology. We are passionate about developing a self-driving system that will one day move people and things around more safely, efficiently, and cost effectively.
Remote Assist is a team within the Self Driving Vehicle Platform (SDVP) at ATG. Within this team, you'll have a unique opportunity to learn from leaders in all aspects of the self-driving industry. First and foremost, you'll have an opportunity to collaborate with our hardware, software, and R&D teams to build tools that accelerate the development of our in-house self-driving technology. This experience will include designing, testing and productionizing remote and onboard systems that must safely and efficiently navigate the real world, much like our Uber driver partners do every day!
Moreover, you'll work closely with your sibling teams within SDVP to integrate self-driving tech (within ATG and external parties) onto Uber's network. In this context, you'll collaborate with other SDVP teams to work on problems such as marketplace expansion, trip flow logistics, rider experience, and any other potential production verticals Uber may engage in. The opportunity to work with multiple aspects of the self-driving problem is unique to Uber, relative to the rest of the self-driving industry.
As a Front-end Engineer on the Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) Remote Assist team, you'll help build the software powering ATG's Remote Console product, enabling humans to remotely support self-driving vehicles and riders in real time. We allow a human in the loop to assist with edge case scenarios in both the autonomy software and the rider experience, helping to provide a safe and comfortable experience for riders.
We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have a curiosity, passion and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward, together.

Good things happen when people can move, whether across town or towards their dreams. Opportunities appear, open up, become reality. What started as a way to tap a button to get a ride has led to billions of moments of human connection as people around the world go all kinds of places in all kinds of ways with the help of our technology.
It’s our goal to create a workplace that is inclusive and reflects the diversity of the cities we serve—where everyone can be their authentic self, and where that authenticity is celebrated as a strength. By creating an environment where people from every background can thrive, we’ll make Uber a better company—for our employees and our customers.
