Jacobs Technology is seeking Engineering Technician's to support the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) contract in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
*This position will be Part Time / Intermittent.*
As a part of the test staff for the event, personnel will perform limited technical functions related to the support of testing activities such as operation, operator level maintenance and modifications. Person will be required to operate/maintain military tactical radios; send/receive and score voice/data transmissions and operate/maintain equipment within EPG's instrumentation suite. Appropriate boots and attire are required.
May also be required to drive military vehicles (i.e. HMMWV - High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) to accommodate test activity.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or any equivalent cominbation of relevant education and experience.
Basic computer skills are also required. Operators must be able to carry 30lbs radio equipment in a pack on their back, walk approximately 3 miles a day stand for up to five hours at a time while carrying a tablet computer and other instrumentation devices. Operators must have the ability to visually see objects close on a small tablet computer. Operators need to be able to stand, kneel and assume the prone position while documenting voice quality scores on the radio while carrying 30lbs of radio equipment on their backs.
Current/valid driver's license.
Essential Functions
Work Environment
Working outside in the various weather elements (rain, snow, wind, sunshine, etc.) associated with the local area surrounding Fort Huachuca & Sierra Vista. May be working in a confined space like a HMMWV military vehicle. Will be outside working out on the desert terrain with uneven inclines and slopes.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Equipment and Machines
Operators must have the ability to visually see objects close in on a small tablet/laptop computers or "smart" phones.
Operators must be proficient and able to type information, on a virtual keyboard, on a computer tablet or laptop.
Attendance
Regular hours will be variable, depending on the workload requiring to be met. When actively working, the working hours can be between Monday - Saturday 6:00am - 6:00pm (subject to change based on test requirements). Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. You could be required to work an evening/midnight work schedule.
Other Essential Functions
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.
Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.
This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary.
When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
