Description
 Jacobs is seeking a Network Engineer to support our customer in Quantico, VA. Qualified candidates must possess an active Top Secret clearance.

The Network Engineer will:

  • Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
  • Optimize database systems for performance and reliability testing
  • Perform backup monitoring, troubleshooting, and bug fixes
  • Develop database functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to enhance database functionality and security (PL/SQL)
  • Ensure data integrity and quality in the database
  • Create physical and logical database models
  • Perform DBA activities such as daily monitoring, Cluster Health Check, RAC Component Check, and memory and Processes usage
  • Prepare documents regarding database design
  • Document approved software configuration Change Requests (CRs)

Qualifications
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency with 802.11 standard and current protocols
  • Ability to Define Network Infrastructure Requirements
  • Ability to Track Budget Expenses, Project Management
  • Proven Problem Solving Capability, LAN Knowledge, Proxy Server Knowledge
  • Networking Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation Capability
  • Network Troubleshooting Ability, Network Hardware Configuration Capability, Network Performance Tuning Ability
  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • CCNP, CWNP, or higher preferred, Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, 802.15/Bluetooth, Cellular LTE, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be willing to travel

Desired Skills:
  • Able to work with moderate supervision
  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Programming Capability (Linux, Python, C++ preferred)
  • College or University degree in Electrical Engineering or technical field and/or 7-10+ years equivalent work experience.


Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
