As applications and systems become more complex and user experience is at high stake, observability - the ability to monitor and understand the systems and how they impact users, becomes one of the biggest challenges for engineering teams. We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to help lead a diverse team of engineers to build a new product as we continue to innovate on application observability. We move fast and iterate quickly. We are obsessed with solving customers’ problems. We have ambitious goals to build best-of-its-kind products. You will help the team win in a fast-growing market.

As a manager at Splunk, your primary role is to help your team reach its maximum potential through mentorship and coaching. You will bring a ton of empathy while holding the line of high quality and helping people grow. You will collaborate closely with your peers across all engineering areas as well as product management, program management, UX, and documentation cross-functional teams to help your team deliver success to our customers. We want you to enable every team member to do the best work of their lives.


  • You will develop psychological safety on the teams.

  • You will diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams focused on large scale SaaS systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and leading teams to build and operate their own services.
  • Passionate about good engineering practices, new technologies, and improving processes, and a consistent record of mentoring and coaching team members.
  • Passionate about building elegant and powerful tools to solve customer problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience and recent 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
