About the opportunity:
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to join our Glasgow Ground Engineering Team. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your sound technical skills whilst working in an engaging and collaborative team. You will provide technical leadership, mentoring and advice for the Ground Engineering team, while delivering solutions for numerous clients. As a result, we’re looking for people who have the passion and drive to be involved with major geotechnical projects across a range of sectors, including transport infrastructure, buildings, power and water utilities. You’re already following your purpose and there’s still more to come. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist, you will work as part of a team providing support and advice to the wider Jacobs business and clients as well as acting as task lead on projects. You will lead or assist in the delivery of Geotechnical input to projects. You will also be required to provide technical guidance and support to less experienced junior engineers and technicians.
There will be opportunities for a wider degree of responsibilities and roles within the Geotechnical team aimed at developing your career as a Geotechnical specialist.

• MEng degree in Civil Engineering or a degree in Engineering Geology or Geology with a post graduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Chartered or have equivalent experience with a commitment to the pursuit of becoming chartered.
• The successful Geotechnical Engineer must have strong technical design skills with experience of geotechnical software – PLAXIS, SlopeW, Holebase, SEEPW etc
• Strong technical leadership and project delivery in a consulting environment
• Ability to progress schemes from inception to design completion with support from others.
• Can effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and outside agencies and build effective working relationships and always aiming to exceeding client expectations
• Experienced & confident with report writing and presentation skills
• Adheres to all Codes of Practice, Design Standards and Health and Safety Regulations
• Flexibility to travel for work.
• Experience of Design & Build Contracts.
• Preparation of tender submissions.
• Experienced in the execution of major projects.
• Full driving license.
