The HR generalist performs human resources-related duties for 650 plus employees and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, benefits, recruitment, employment, leave administration, payroll and risk management.
Assists with day-to-day operations of the HR department to include implementing human resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with federal and state legal requirements.
Conducts Employee Orientation for all newly hired employees and processes all paperwork associated with new hires including offer letters.
Assist with pre-employment screening for potential employees as well as conducts all background checks using a third-party Administrator.
Verifies all employment documents including new hire forms and I-9 documentation.
Ensures the accuracy of benefits-related forms from new and current employees. Oversees the processing of those forms and coordinates enrollment by using the online employee portal.
Answers employee requests and questions in a timely and courteous manner.
Responsible for posting positions internally and externally and processes hiring actions.
Responds to inquiries from employees regarding the organization’s benefits processes, policies, procedures, and programs.
Coordinates distribution/communication of benefits & policies including but not limited to Medical/Dental/Vision, 401 K open enrollment, Health Care Savings Plans, etc.
Assists in administration of company benefits programs.
Responsible for HR related payroll changes including running payroll reports, entering employee information into HR Benefits, processing payroll deduction forms and troubleshooting payroll issues.
Creates and maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Makes photocopies, scans and faxes documents and performs other clerical functions.
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Has excellent organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities.
Ability to work independently and perform with a high level of autonomy with minimal guidance or review. Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize job tasks and stay focused on deadlines
Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information or issues
General knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to recruitment

Knowledge of PeopleSoft or Oracle HRIS Systems or Taleo Applicant Tracking Systems a plus.
UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Must be able to type at a rate of at least 40 words per minute. May require sitting at a computer for extended periods of time (up to 100%). The ability to bend/stoop, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level is required (up to 25%).
Work is inside in an office setting. Requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with all members of office staff. Will maintain a close and highly responsive relationship to the day-to-day activities of the needs of the customer and other office staff. May often work fairly independently, receiving a minimum of detailed supervision and guidance.
Work requires regular use of typical office equipment such as a personal computer (up to 80%), copiers (up to 20%) and fax machines (up to 20%).
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment when required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required.
