At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.
Performs a variety of tasks associated with the testing of support equipment that may include but are not limited to the following: driving vehicles for testing, support, or otherwise; operations may be performed on wheeled vehicles, tracked vehicles, engineering vehicles, special purpose vehicles, material handling equipment, bridge boats/floating bridges, amphibious vehicles, etc.; operational testing performed on support equipment to include pumps, general support equipment, etc.; movement of test items to and from ranges; installing payloads on test items; operating tactical communication equipment; the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment; performs operator level maintenance both in the field and at various maintenance facilities; performs tasks such as operator level preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS); while assigned vehicles or equipment are being repaired or serviced, assists in performing a higher echelon of maintenance as required in accordance with appropriate/approved test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations. Records test data on daily electronic and/or paper driver logs. Inputs data into vehicle recording systems when required and reviews data for technical accuracy. Under the direction of more qualified personnel, installs and operates sensitive data collection instrumentation, vehicle system training simulators/devices, and/or maintains equipment necessary to collect, process, store, or obtain test related data in accordance with appropriate test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations. Effectively operates onboard computers, software, and other related technology. Identifies, documents, and communicates test related and/or abnormal conditions in an appropriate format and timely manner. Works, coordinates, and collaborates with others in a professional manner to accomplish testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Actively participates to ensure personal safety, team safety, visitor safety, and end user safety in accordance with policy, standard operating procedures, and locally identified hazard mitigation requirements.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Vehicles are operated over such courses as gravel, mud, sand, Belgian block, concrete, frame, twisters, washboard, cross country, marshes, swamps, water courses, slopes and vertical walls. The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull, as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment may be inside or outside depending on task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts. Must be able to work and operate equipment safely in and around congested shop areas
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Operates equipment ranging from 1-100 tons with a variety of different axle configurations, tow loaded trailers designed for these vehicles. Also operates forklifts and other material handling equipment along with construction equipment. Wheeled combat/Tactical and non-combat vehicles are also tested. Must have the ability to operate computer systems necessary to support the tests and time card entries. Work may include working around moving machinery and equipment.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must possess a valid class A CDL. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Must also receive a physical examination in accordance with the requirements of ATC. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to vibration, extreme temperature changes, noise, and dusts. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required.
