Job Description

Seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented Manufacturing Chemist with experience in oligonucleotide synthesis to join our Primer Manufacturing group. The candidate must have a strong understanding of purification techniques used in the manufacture of complex nucleotides, such as Ion Exchange and Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography. The candidate should have at least two years of chemistry bench experience in synthetic processes.



  • Follow established processes and protocols for the synthesis of complicated organic molecules and modified oligonucleotides
  • Synthesize complex organic molecules and modified oligonucleotides per established protocols
  • HPLC purification and analysis of complex organic molecules and modified oligonucleotides
  • Operate in compliance with all appropriate regulatory and safety requirements
  • Work with cross-site and cross-functional teams in R&D, EH&S, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess safety and quality risks and drive improvements where appropriate.
  • Perform safety and quality inspections through an established 6S program
  • May facilitate MFG process change and troubleshoot/resolve routine production issues and escalate non-standard or critical issues to appropriate departments.
  • Perform thorough review of production orders to ensure all data and transactions are accurate in SAP and Participate in inventory discrepancy correction as needed
  • Operate equipment and conduct tasks in a safe manner, adhering to established guidelines and applicable regulations.



  • At least 2 years of experience in synthetic chemistry processes, purification, analysis of organic molecules, and modified oligonucleotides
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established protocols in the production of complex organic molecules and modified oligonucleotides
  • Solid technical knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, HPLC methods, manufacturing processes, manufacturing information systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Familiar with ISO 9001, 13485 and FDA QSR manufacturing standards
  • Working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems
  • Basic knowledge of the life science industry and experience in DNA analysis methods preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated GMP manufacturing environment under ISO 13485/or 21 CFR 820
  • Basic knowledge of the life science industry and experience in DNA analysis methods preferred
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of equipment/instrument upkeep, calibration, and maintenance policies.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing costing is preferred.



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Field of study in Biochemistry or Chemistry preferred
