Job Description

Are you a creative and motivated scientist with experience designing and carrying out single-molecule experiments and coming up with novel solutions to challenging problems? Then this position on an interdisciplinary team responsible for innovating biochemistries and platforms for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) may be for you.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will design, execute and analyze single-molecule experiments, while working at the interface of electrical sensing and biophysics.
  • Systematically determine causes of, and troubleshoot solutions to, sticking points, with defined goals and timeframes.
  • Effectively work within multidisciplinary teams and routinely interact with synthetic chemists, protein chemists, and engineers to solve problems and devise experimental plans.

Preferred Educational Background:
 

  • PhD in biophysics, bioengineering, electrical engineering, biochemistry or related field.

 

Preferred Experiential Background:
 

  • 0-3 years of post-PhD hands-on experience with electrical sensors, single molecule experiments, sequencing, or nucleic acid sensor biochemistry.
  • Understanding of single molecule biophysics; interdisciplinary experience combining surface chemistry, biochemistry, and engineering to address biological problems.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with data collection systems, analyzing data sets, and troubleshooting experiments.
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to analyze data to determine next steps.
  • Highly creative and inventive problem solver with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
