Description of Duties:

The Network Integration Architect supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

  • Serve as the Network Integration Architect/Events for the Missile Defense Agency IT Service Delivery (ITSD) Global Enterprise Connectivity Team
  • Assisting with the overall technical direction and will provide technical oversight of ITSD Global Enterprise Connectivity Team, its people, processes, and products
  • Help oversee the engineering life-cycle for a portfolio of enterprise IT offerings/services ensuring MDA Chief Information Officer (CIO) services and supported MDA Directors’ Enclaves/ Lab services are rendered, protected, and ready to support the execution of all Missile Defense Systems (MDS) events, including Flight tests, Ground tests, War-games & exercises, and real-world events
  • Be a technically focused Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will provide mentoring, and technical guidance for the event workforce
  • Work under general supervision of the ITSD Global Enterprise Connectivity Team Lead
  • Assist with the vision for how technology will be used within the service deliver team
  • Assist with the establishment and implement strategic direction of the team and define technical solutions that meet the business needs of the MDS test event customers
  • Collaborate pro-actively with the MDA event community, customers, and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and assess technology needs, and capture those needs in a technology road map
  • Lead technical integration continuity for specific events throughout an event engineering life-cycle to ensure accuracy of work products and service offerings are ready to support the execution of MDS test events
  • Apply relevant engineering principles and practices in the development ITSD Global Enterprise Connectivity Team processes, procedures, and product deliverables
  • Demand deep and broad technical skills in multiple technical domains such as network, boundary protection, telephony, and COMSEC services
  • Work across the MDA event community to understand business needs and requirements and lead, design, and deliver solutions using the appropriate channels
  • Work with managers, other architects/engineers (with technical capacity across enterprise spectrum), and others to assisting ITSD Global Enterprise Connectivity Team with event architecture framework development and define event architecture processes, standards, governance, and compliance
  • Assess current state and determine service capability required to meet near and long-term requirements for MDS test events, and analyze gaps between current and desired future state and develop implementation plan to transition to desire future state
  • Use customer feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments
  • Continually analyze all pertinent data, including but not limited to customer experience, effectiveness, ease of use, and other information to optimize technical solutions

 

This position can be filled at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO or Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL.

Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 12 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 10 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 6 years of general experience.

  • Must have at least 6 years of directly related experience
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a management or leadership role
  • Demonstrated strong understanding and extensive background with various DoD communication systems and networks
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with network architectures, engineering services, and continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of the MDA, MDS, and event management, support, and execution
  • Working knowledge of one or multiple event networks, systems, and enclaves (e.g. Flight Test Communication Network (FTCN), MDA DTR Event Enclave (DTREE), Training Support System (TSS), Command & Control  Battle Management & Communications (C2BMC), GMD Communication Network (GCN), and/or other MDA two letters enclaves)
  • Working knowledge of technical skills in multiple domains such as a network, boundary protection, telephony, and COMSEC services
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or other best-practice business protocols
  • Experience leading engineering/technical teams and interfacing with matrixed-managed organizations
  • Must have a current 8570 IA Workforce IAM Level I and IA Workforce IAT Level II Approved Baseline Certification
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Extensive working knowledge of the MDS and MDA engineering principles
  • Demonstrated strong understanding and extensive background with IT Service Management/Delivery (ITSM/ITSD), System Lifecycle Methodologies, and Cyber Security protocols;
  • Extensive understanding of technical skills in multiple domains such as a network, boundary protection, telephony, and COMSEC services
  • Testing of complex weapons systems, especially those related to MDA ground test and flight test programs
  • Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with engineering life cycle management
  • Knowledge of or experience with overseeing mission critical continuous operations and security centers
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • ITIL certification(s)
