Performs cybersecurity related tasks designed to safeguard the security of systems and information assets by protecting against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. Manages information systems security, including disaster recovery, database protection, and software development. Performs technical support focused on the development, operation, management, and enforcement of security capabilities for systems and networks.
Analyzes information security systems and applications then recommends and develops effective security measures. Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations. Evaluates IT infrastructure in terms of risk to the organization and establishes controls to mitigate loss. Determines and recommends improvements in current risk management controls and implementation of system changes or upgrades. Works with end users to determine needs, implements policies or procedures, and tracks compliance through the organization. Establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies, goals, and procedures for the information security function. Implements network security policies and procedures, ensures network (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, and voice) security access, and protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
This labor category may include personnel who provide cybersecurity support of systems and applications where capabilities may be gained through extensive on-the-job experience, specialized formal Government training, or institutional training and certification. On-the-job experience must be in specific Cybersecurity support fields.
Must be familiar with systems administration concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre- established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a project leader, supervisor, or manager.
Requires an Associate’s degree; at least 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience; or 6 years of experience. Additional certifications (other than those required for the position) in the area of specialization may be substituted for 1 year of experience. The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
Must possess experience with DoD’s defense in depth architecture; the capabilities associated with the DoD architecture; and IA/CND Policies and Procedures. This labor category requires specific training and certification for the IAT, IAM, CND Analyst, CND Auditor, and IASAEs.
Acceptable degree specialties include but are not limited to the following: Information Technology,Mathematics, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, and various engineering and science disciplines.
Related certifications in the area of specialization may be substituted for 1 year of experience. Examples of relevant Government or industry training include, but are not limited to, applicable DAWIA, SPRDE, and United States Federal or DoD school training and certification on a specific system, network, or technology.
This level is intended to coincide with DoD 8570.01M IAT/IAM/IASAE Level I and the Contractor must comply with the associated qualification and certification requirements.
