Responsibilities: 

The High Voltage Electrical Craft Technician functions as a member of a team of craftsman responsible for the switching of the High Voltage distribution system, system troubleshooting and repair. Must be able to apply working knowledge to perform routine tasks when working on both high and low voltage electrical systems or components. Must be able to develop, checkout, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, test, and modify electrical systems. Must be able to write and execute switching producers. Candidates must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Perform work and maintain work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner. Preforms related duties as required.

The position provides craft support in the following areas:
  • Switching of high voltage and low voltage systems
  • Troubleshooting and repair of the high voltage distribution system to include but not limited to
    • High/Low Voltage breakers
    • Protective Relays
    • Square D power meters
    • High/Low voltage cable
    • AC/DC Highpot
    • Power transformers and oil analysis 
  • Test equipment operations to include
    • Protective Relay test sets
    • Power factor test sets
    • AC/DC Highpot
    • Breakers test sets
    • Digital low resistance ohm meter
    • Motor test sets
    • Frequency analyzer
    • Oil Analyzer
  • Support troubleshooting and repair work assigned to the Maintenance group
  • Work could also include other equipment and duties as assigned. 
 
Qualifications
 

U. S. citizenship required. Four (4) years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a craft trades, working knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be certified as a journeyman electrician. Employees entered into the program will be required to complete OJT/certification in a three (3) step program.

Essential Functions: 

Office Environment: (10%)

Test environment:May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities

Travel between various facilities and during test operations required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operations (50%)

 
Physical Requirements:

Visual and physical (hands on) contact of test related systems, hardware and articles.

Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs (100%). 

 
Equipment and Machines:

Electrical equipment (breakers, motors, transformers, electromechanical & digital relays, Square D power meters, & etc) (90%)

 
Attendance:

Regular attendance mandatory (100%).

Occasional overtime/work outside normal schedule may be required (5%).

 

Other Essential Functions:

U. S. citizenship is required. Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. CMOE maintenance employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.
