SAIC is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to provide support to the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center (CCDC GVSC), located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan


NOTE: This position is temporarily work from home / remote / virtual work as part of a virtual team due to COVID-19.  Will likely return to the office after COVID-19 threat has passed.





  • SAIC is seeking a Project Systems Engineering Lead (PSEL) to provide support to the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center (CCDC GVSC), located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan.  
  • The candidate will use their experience in a broad range of Systems Engineering principles to lead the execution and delivery of systems engineering work products as part of a program team.
  • The Project Systems Engineering Lead will be experienced in applying systems engineering processes, methods and tools over an entire project/product lifecycle of hardware and software programs.  
  • Specific areas of responsibility include: stakeholder and mission needs development, concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, alternative analysis, system architect development, system design and analysis, interface and data architecture definition, system integration, system and operational performance analysis, validation and verification planning, lifecycle cost analysis and estimation, decision analysis and resolution, risk management and providing systems engineering leadership in program and technical reviews.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to lead systems engineering efforts on complex projects/products, and the ability to successfully execute several program efforts simultaneously. 



  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical degree with at least 9 years of professional experience as a Systems Engineer; OR Masters and 7 years of experience as a Systems Engineer; PhD or JD and 4 years as a Systems Engineer

  • Experience leading Systems Engineering aspects of a project/product team

  • Develop and mature system requirements and interface control documents in DOORS or other requirements management tool

  • Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system, subsystem and component alternatives to inform overall system decisions/recommendations

  • Work with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process to develop and demonstrate integrated system design in accordance with requirements

  • Lead systems engineering aspects of technical reviews including SFR, SRR, PDR, CDR and TRR

  • Develop requirement verification matrices for system, subsystem and component designs

  • Develop and implement metrics to measure product quality and development performance

  • At least 4 years’ experience in system design, development, integration and verification testing of Military ground vehicles

  • Must be a US citizen that has or is able to obtain a Secret Level Security Clearance



  • Master of Science in Engineering or related technical degree

  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering processes and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools to complex project/product solutions

  • Experience in DoDAF, SysML and UML modeling, simulation, and analysis

  • Strong technical background in vehicle and robotic mechanics and dynamics
