Job Description


SAIC is looking for a mid-level engineer to support the development, evaluation, and testing of munition systems for the United States Air Force. Specifically, it involves the development of real-time simulations and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) test software for the purposes of testing Weapon Open Systems Architecture (WOSA) systems that are brought into the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The successful applicant will work to develop new methods and procedures for testing different hardware components and algorithms that make up munitions in order to determine the feasibility of the WOSA standard being developed. The applicant will be expected to document processes, procedures, test results, and report these to their program supervisor as well as external entities.


Minimum Tangible Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in C++, Python, JavaScript, Git
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and working from the command line
  • B.S. degree, preferably in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 5+ years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance
  • Proficient using MS Word, MS PowerPoint


Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Experience with FPGA development
  • Understanding of Postgres, SQL
  • LaTeX experience
  • Experience with interrupt driven hardware interfacing, specifically Concurrent Real-Time Platforms
  • Ability to develop hardware in the loop testing procedures and interfacing with existing software tools in C++
  • Experience with SysML/MBSE modeling
  • Experience with leading a team/project
