Job Description


SAIC is seeking an exceptional Senior-Level Aerospace Engineer to support the Air Force's next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. This professional will work with the GBSD AVE branch of our customer the USAF. Responsibilities will include: 

  • Accountable for execution and oversight of the technical quality and content of engineering efforts as well as processes and products across the AVE Branch of GBSD to ensure consistent, exceptional engineering support of the Government customer 
  • Design, develop, and test a variety of power systems, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight 
  • Establish structural specifications, perform stress analysis, and conduct performance tests 
  • Assist in the creation, review, and assessment of documents, drawings, briefings, engineering analysis, and various other tasks
  • Apply extensive engineering knowledge to ensure and advance principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques 
  • Plan, coordinate, execute, and complete tasks related to engineering processes, protocols, and implementation for the GBSD System Program Office 


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related technical field 
  • At least 14 years’ experience with DoD-specific technical systems (12+ years with MS or PhD) 
  • At least 7 years' experience with space launch, ballistic missile or nuclear weapon systems 
  • Extensive experience in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering 
  • Experience and record of success in executing technical projects 
  • Excellent cognitive, communication (both written and spoken), and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated self-discipline to plan and prioritize their own work with successful results 
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active US DoD SECRET Security Clearance granted within the last 5 years with the ability to achieve and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET Security Clearance 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Graduate degree(s) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related technical fields 
  • INCOSE ASEP or other comparable professional certification 
  • Experience with ICBM interceptor and counter measure systems 
  • Experience in model-based systems engineering 
  • Exp erience with DoD acquisition programs 
  • ICBM Weapon System experience 
  • ICBM Reentry System expertise 
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active US DoD TOP SECRET Security Clearance granted within the last 3 years with the ability to achieve and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET Security Clearance
