Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Senior Microelectronics Systems Engineer to support the Principal Director, Microelectronics in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD(R&E)) in the management and execution of the Department of Defense (DoD) Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (T&AM) program. The systems engineer’s primary role is to support the Government T&AM Program Manager in evaluating technological approaches, synchronizing DoD efforts, and executing the trusted microelectronics strategy for Application-Specific Integrated Circuits, Field Programmable Gate Arrays, and other microelectronics components.

Job responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Government Program Manager in project management and execution for T&AM program elements
  • Support planning, execution and facilitation of program reviews and bi-weekly T&AM meetings
  • Coordinate with T&AM Technical Execution Leads on technical and programmatic issues and opportunities
  • Evaluate technical approaches to solving assurance issues facing the DoD weapon system acquisition community
  • Engage stakeholder community across Services, industry, and academia to identify microelectronics technologies and applications that align with T&AM program objectives
  • Develop and/or provide input and recommendations to T&AM abstracts, briefs, information papers, and whitepapers
  • Support RFI/proposal development, review, and technical evaluations
  • Support development of T&AM budget justification documents in support of the annual President’s Budget
  • Engage with Joint Federated Assurance Center Hardware Assurance (HwA) and Software Assurance (SwA) communities to provide cross-flow between HwA and T&AM efforts and other USD(R&E) efforts
  • Support analysis of the DoD microelectronics supply chain and efforts to improve supply chain visibility and security
  • Assist in development of DoD microelectronics policy and standards updates


  • Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
  • Degree(s) in an engineering discipline or related field. BS and 15 years of experience; Master’s and 12 years of experience; PhD and 9 years of experience
  • At least 10 years of experience working in microelectronics design, semiconductor device fabrication and/or foundry operations, radiation-hardened electronics, radio frequency electronics, electro-optical electronics, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), defense electronics industrial base or related areas
  • Experience in preparing, coordinating, and presenting briefings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the DoD organizational structure and budgeting process, OSD inter-office coordination, and communication protocols

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree(s) in electrical engineering, computer engineering, systems engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (T&AM) program
  • Experience in planning and coordination of technical reviews, panels, or similar meetings with diverse participants
  • Experience in quantitative methods for hardware assurance, supply chain risk management, or policy and standards development
