Description

SAIC requires an experienced System Engineer to provide sustained on-site Factory Support to assist in overseeing the manufacturing, assembly, integration and test of a mission critical sensor subsystem.  Key areas of focus include the integration of lower level assemblies, including structural elements, moving mechanical assemblies and electronics hardware, sensor environmental and performance testing, and support the Payload Branch in-factory development activity.

The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:

  • Support the customer in the oversight of the subsystem hardware integration and test activities at the Subcontractor and associated vendor facilities
  • Proactively identify and assess emerging technical and programmatic risks at the subsystem level and then work with the Subcontractor to develop and evaluate mitigation approaches
  • Perform in-depth review and analysis of programmatic (cost and schedule) detail in addition to technical (performance) detail
    • Perform independent reviews of complex technical design documentation and cost/schedule execution metrics
    • Engage other SETA, and USG SMEs as appropriate and produce an integrated payload end-to-end product
  • Develop productive relationships with Subcontractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other subject matter experts
  • Provide formal and informal feedback to the Government Points of Contact (POCs) and Subject Matter Experts
  • Support requirements activities with the development contractors:
    • Assist in flow down of requirements from higher level documents
    • Review/monitor subsystem and assembly level test and verification/validation planning and execution
    • Attend subsystem and segment level program management reviews to asses requirements compliance
  • Provide expert advice concerning all aspects of subsystem development
    • Review hardware schedules, earned value, test results, sell-off package reports, hardware build and integration plans/procedures, test requirements/plans/procedures, ERB packages, FRB reports
    • Review drawings, document and procedures for design, manufacturing, integration and test and provide comments to the Subcontractor, prime and/or USG
    • Track development issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates to the customer
    • Attend planning meeting, working groups, readiness reviews, data reviews and sell-off to assess design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the USG
  • Other duties as assigned by the customer

 

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
