SAIC has contingent job opportunities for several CANES SubLan Engineers to provide systems engineering support for the AN/USQ-177 Submarine Local Area Network (SubLAN) and AN/USQ-208 Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) family of computer network systems aboard submarines.  This position is located in San Diego, CA.

This position is contingent upon contract award, expected in 2022.

The CANES program is a Program Executive Office (PEO) C4I Program Management Warfare (PMW) 160 sponsored ACAT 1AM program.

SubLAN Engineers will provide engineering and technical services to support the evolution and deployment of PEO C4I networks and follow-on systems for all U.S. Navy submarines under the cognizance of NUWCDIVNPT Code 25. These engineering and a technical services shall include: Systems engineering, managing, and tracking engineering change request processes which include engineering, testing, logistics and platform integration for submarine networks; acting as a member of Submarine network Systems Engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPT), PMW 160 Design Engineering working groups, and cognizant engineering teams to prepare the engineering changes for fielding as part of the PEO C4I submarine network and; acting as technical point of contact (TPOC) for the applicable applications and subsystems being integrated to the PEO C4I PMW 160 submarine network.



Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, plus seven (7) years or more related experience to include:

  • At least 4 years experience in engineering development and documentation supporting PEO C4I systems.
  • At least 2 years experience providinging technical and/or engineering support for CANES Afloat Network
  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with submarine alteration processes
  • Experience with PEO C4I Application Integrations processes
  • Security +, CCNA or MCSE
