SAIC is looking for a well-qualified, Systems Engineer Principal to join an exciting program in Springfield VA, supporting the development of new practices and approaches to achieve improved organizational performance and agility.  The successful candidate will lead support efforts to enhance systems engineering, including digital engineering, practices across the customer’s enterprise.  The candidate will support efforts to promote improved strategic planning, and requirements development and traceability across the organization.  The desired outcome is to increase organizational efficiencies and reduce risks inherent in a complex organization with varying, and document-intensive, stakeholder acquisition and reporting practices.  Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support systems engineering tasks including CONOPs generation, requirements development and traceability, and strategic planning
  • Develop organizational-level plans and strategies, coordinating with component offices and other stakeholders
  • Manage IPT/Working Group meetings to facilitate communication and coordination across the customer’s enterprise  
  • Identify effective tools, models, analytical capabilities, and system architectural designs to effect improved organizational agility and performance
  • Lead support effort in all aspects of planning, developing, and implementing MBSE/digital engineering practices in the customer’s organization; support implementation of pilot efforts
  • Manage schedules and deliverables; track actions; brief status of efforts
  • Travel (10-15%) outside assigned work area

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI
  • The ability to complete a counter-intelligence scope polygraph (post-hire)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or operations research; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 7 years or more of experience providing systems engineering in support of DoD and/or IC programs
  • Experience with MBSE and SysML design tools
  • Diplomatic, tactful, and strong interpersonal and professional skills to work effectively in politically sensitive environments

Desired Qualifications

  • An active Top Secret clearance with access to SCI and CI Polygraph;
  • Experience providing digital engineering efforts in support of DoD and/or IC programs
  • Advanced degree in a scientific or technical field (Physics, Engineering, Operations Research)
  • PMP and/or other professional certifications
