We are seeking Senior Geospatial Engineer to provide support to our customer supporting a hard target campaign focused on data transport systems and their component technologies.   

Job Duties Include: 

  • Responsible for technical support to the Government program manager responsible for executing multiple simultaneous projects involving one or more of these technologies.   
  • Oversee design, development, and test of optical and electro-optical systems and components, including payloads, telescopes, sensors, electro-optics, detectors, lasers, and fiber-optics for aircraft and space satellites. 
  • Participate in design reviews and technical exchange meetings, drafting statements of work, preparing presentations, reviewing technical reports and providing written feedback.   
  • Provide technical assessment and support in a customer-facing role in the areas of RF propagation, RF communications, spectrum management, link budgeting and RF design.  
  • Review and provide feedback on component specifications, tolerances, simulations, and test procedures for optical, opto-mechanical, and electro-optical systems and components. 
  • Provide technology assessments, antenna design and performance analysis, requirements specification, integration and test, and evaluation of and recommendations for RF solutions in differing operational environments. 
  • Work as part of a systems engineering team, providing RF expertise in a larger system context and will interface with associate contractors as well as customer and other stakeholder personnel.  
  • Assist the government in developing operational concepts (CONOPS), mission threads, and approaches to employment of optical systems. 
  • Ensure research and development (R&D) efforts are planned and conducted on a sound engineering-basis including management of technical risks. 
  • Provide technical support to customer activities and programmatic processes. 
  • Antenna and RF design simulation, prototyping and testing related work. 
  • Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status; brief Government and industry as required. 
  • An engineer with a technical foundation in RF and antennas that would enjoy the challenge of modeling a variety of antenna / RF systems, doing hands on prototype development and testing and system level analysis. 
  • Provide technical assessment and support in a customer-facing role in the areas of RF propagation, RF communications, spectrum management, link budgeting and RF design.  


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Active TS//SCI security clearance with polygraph
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field OR (4 years of relevant experience may substitute in lieu of degree) and 14+ years of experience
  • Must have expertise in one or more of the following technologies: software defined radios, digital signal processing, radio frequency (RF) hardware design, satellite communications architectures, antenna design, waveform design, and wireless communications.
  • Must have experience with design, integration and test of RF systems and signal processing infrastructures.
  • Must have knowledge of radios and communication systems for overhead operations
  • Must have experience developing portfolio/project strategic plans.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office software (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project and SharePoint). 
  • Must have experience interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment
  • Must have ability to execute assignments with little supervision and actively participate in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must have understanding of the systems engineering process and applications.
  • Must have experience utilizing system engineering or project management principles for requirements development.
  • Must have ability to foster collaborative relationships, encourage teamwork, and promote cooperation, think critically, strategically, and solve problems.
  • Must possess diplomatic, tactful, and strong interpersonal and professional skills to resolve politically sensitive issues.
  • Travel: CONUS and OCONUS travel up to 15% of time.


Desired Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, or related disciplines. 
  • Expertise in design, analysis, manufacture and testing of optical components, particularly space telescopes. 
  • Knowledge of systems engineering as applied to satellite/ground architectures, spacecraft and payloads 
  • Experience using commercial optical design tools such as Code V, Zemax, LightTools, FRED, and MATLAB. 
  • Experience with DoD or IC R&D organizations. 
  • Experience with the development of novel materials and processes for the manufacture of space based telescopes.
