SAIC has an immediate need for a Operations Technician to support the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The NICS contract provides high quality integrated communications services for secure voice, video and data solutions and services to NASA customers worldwide.  Our role enables secure, effective, and affordable IT technology services supporting GSFC’s science missions.  GSFC is home to the nation's largest organization of scientists, engineers and technologists who build spacecraft, instruments and new technology to study Earth, the sun, our solar system, and the universe. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned trouble tickets and provide timely resolution to problems in accordance with service level agreements. Resolve break/fixes and provide move/add/change/deactivation requests for all GSFC IT systems. Remedy application experience a plus
  • Provide field service support for large campus environment (7000~ end users) which includes lifting equipment (Must be able to lift 30lbs)
  • Provide Tier II support; resolve incidents and work change tickets
  • Provide after-hours on-call incident response resolution and project work
  • Collaborate with team members locally and from other NASA Centers
  • Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions
  • Comply with NASA Agency IT security policies
  • Maintains safe work environment by following standards and policies

Qualifications

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Related 2 years field and technical experience

Required Skills:

  • Basic LAN configuration skills
  • Troubleshooting analysis and response to network alarms
  • Familiar with Cisco networking equipment including and VOIP/UCS
  • Team player with strong technical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and IT infrastructure team members
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office products
  • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license

Desired Skills / Experiences:

  • Familiar with Juniper networking equipment
  • Be flexible in a fluid environment and able to handle last minute requirements and priority changes.
  • Inside and Outside Cable Plant experience

  • To Obtain a Public Trust

Travel (if any):

  • 10% or less
